Paulin, ex prof de maths reconverti dans le commerce de la poterie à Soulac, sa ville natale, reçoit comme une bombe, une « Mine » à retardement, la nouvelle de sa paternité. Une paternité subie, contrainte et forcée, 9 ans après une histoire sans lendemain avec la mère.

Juste au moment où sa vie prend enfin le cours du bonheur avec la femme de sa vie, une belle pharmacienne sensuelle et libre qui ne veut surtout pas d’enfants.

Hermine, dite Mine, la petite fille va faire exploser toutes les certitudes des personnages.

L’histoire peut paraître banale mais c’est sans compter avec l’écriture vive, nerveuse et tellement réaliste de l’auteur dans sa description des sentiments contradictoires des personnages. Nous passons avec tous les personnages de ce roman, par toutes les facettes des réactions humaines face à ce genre de nouvelle. L’empathie avec chacun d’eux est immédiate, chacun est profondément humain.

La violence faite aux hommes quand ils doivent assumer une paternité non voulue, non choisie, faite sans amour est remarquablement décrite.

Tous les personnages ont une épaisseur psychologique intéressante.

Un autre aspect du livre très touchant est la beauté poétique des descriptions de cette région du médoc qui va jusqu’au bout du monde de la Gironde !

L’auteur, originaire de Soulac, sait parfaitement nous faire apprécier cette petite station balnéaire vivant hors saison avec des habitants profondément enracinés dans leur terre.

Un livre qui mérite vraiment d’être découvert, très facile à lire, idéal pour une lecture sur une de nos belles plages girondines cet été …
